BACKGROUND
Peta Hastings diverse body of work as a make-up artist spans over two decades in Film, Television, Fashion, Advertising, Corporate and Special Events.
In 2003 Peta received an AFI nomination for her creative work on the sketch comedy series ‘Big Bite’ which propelled the careers of performers such as ‘Chris Lilley’ (Summer Heights High) and Andrew O’Keefe (Weekend Sunrise).
Peta studied Make-up at Film Makeup Technology (now known as ACMUSE) graduating with distinction in 1988. Her studies continued in Hair at Pivot Point Hairdressing College, Air brushing, Blood and Gore, Prosthetic Manufacture and Application all with Nic Dorning at ‘The Make-up Biz’ Melbourne.
Much of Peta’s work has been in Feature Film and Television production. Most recently completing the Australian Epic, “Cloudstreet” adapted from Miles Franklin award winning novelist Tim Winton. Recent feature film credits include J. Soto’s “Needle”, “My Year without Sex” from acclaimed director Sarah Watt, “Irresistible” staring Susan Sarandon and Emily Blunt. Also ‘Tom White’, featuring a homeless Colin Friels and Bill Hunter.
Peta has also been involved in many short film and low budget productions, also student films, working with rising Directors such as Julius Avery (The Tank, Jerry Can).
While Peta’s Film credits are excellent, her television credits have been the backbone for her working Life. These credits include the highly acclaimed ‘The King – The Story of Graham Kennedy’ , ‘Blue Heelers’,
’Big Bite’ – Sketch Comedy Series (Nominated for an AFI in the Open Craft Category), ‘John Safran V’s God’, ‘Secret Life of Us’, ‘Stingers’ – and many, many others.
In between film work Peta freelances in the areas of Advertising, TVC production, print and corporate.
